"I've Got Worms!"

Soil Regeneration, composting, and small business with Derek Bilski

Who owns our food? How about the places where our food is located? Who owns Dollar General? Derek Bilski shows us where the bodies are buried… the worm bodies that is. Derek is owner and operator of Dirty Bil’s Pure Worm Castings located in South Bend, Indiana. In the show, Derek talks about the process of worm composting and its application to gardening and soil regeneration. It is important to remember that Egypt was an organic farm that still went the way of desertification. From this position, we discuss permaculture and other alternative methods of creating soil, growing food, and living with the course of the natural world. Civilizations such as the Romans, Sukkhathai, and Mississippian cultures all built structures that used the energy of the water to nourish and clean their people, irrigate the crops, and remain part of - not apart from - the natural landscape.

We also discuss starting a business and doing work that heals the land rather than murders the heart. Perhaps one day we will discover that it was from such work that the cancers emerged - work that contributes to the destruction of the world. We talk about doing something different in this episode.

If you’re tired of the same, perhaps that means this will be a listen up your alley. Consider a free subscription to this podcast and the greater body of work located on the Substack platform to help the show become more widely distributed. Paid subscriptions help support the work you find here.

The Abiders Urban Achiever Podcast
A consideration into our relationship with "self" and "other." The deeper dive explores these relationships as they translate into divinity, time, behavior, and the accord with the natural world as it breaks under the language of "other" and "separate."
