The World's on Fire and Tom Cruise Won't Save Us
Extreme weather events (hurricanes, drought, record heat, flooding) and the fallout which occurs (loss of life, destruction of property and infrastructure, crop failures, mass migration, food insecurity, famine) are increasing at an exponential rate. Radical and revolutionary changes are incumbent upon all of us - from our personal constitutions to the policies shaping our economic, technological, and physical reality.
It is of apocalyptic importance that as a global community we course correct in findings of melting permafrost, glacial melting, and ocean warming.
The world is burning, and like the Tower of Babble we continue to build build build. Spend spend spend. The Republicans want to drill. The Democrats want to build green. Sounds like they are all getting paid, doesn't it? On the take. These articles from my program about natural disasters demonstrate that for all the talk, all the money, all the good intentions, the mobilization is only in the direction of capital. The market is working just as it is intended. It will NOT correct itself.
Social services, if employed, are late to the game, underfunded, and withdrawn before any lasting impact can be made. It would be like suturing a bullet wound closed once it had already become septic, then packing up the medical practice and leaving the patient with two days’ worth of penicillin on the way out of town.
The people in government are NOT representing us. Here in the City of South Bend they put on a neoliberal front of extreme compassion and claim liberal values of equanimity while selling the city to the private hands of corrupt goons like the one who owns the Commerce Center and then that same government bulldozes homeless encampments by night. The Democrat government in office now is funding an apartheid regime that bulldozes tent encampments in Gaza. I guess if that's standard practice... Don't worry though, the Republicans have promised to increase funding. The Democrats haven't supported the people in decades and are bought by corporate interests and APAC. The Republicans are on a crusade to take us back to the 1950s when women were entitled to three cocktails before lunch... you know to get em' ready to drive to their OB appointment.
They got us by the balls, folks. Take our government back from these crooks and goons, these faceless careerists who will burn us all alive for a promotion. This is not government by the people for the people.
